Have you ever wondered why you have fields of thoughts flowing in your mind, just as growing wheat flows in the wind? Why is is that negative doubts are planted so securely and embedded so deeply in our sub conscious mind? Have you noticed it is so much easier to harvest negative thoughts and beliefs from our minds and actions than the positive ones?It is because there are so many negative thoughts and judgments and they multiply. Our job is to pull those weeds out by re-framing them as learning experiences rather than failures.
Do you know how to plant positive thoughts with affirmations? We are what we think about and we move towards those things that resonate with us. So it is in our best interest to think positive thoughts and focus on self improvement. Successful people focus on the good and positive in life, rather than what is going wrong.
Thoughts equal Actions
It is never easy to do an inner search of who and what we are, and yet these inner soul examinations are really necessary if we want to grow and develop to our full potential as gifted and talented human beings.
Character flaws, mistakes, failures and regrets frequently come up in our mind as we are doing a self-inventory. One reason is because siblings, parents, extended family, teachers and religious leaders were so eager to tell us what we were doing wrong. Sometimes the message was never spoken, but we inferred the displeasure of others by how they treated or looked at us.
If those negative messages came from someone we trusted, we probably believed what they were saying. and then the thoughts became belief systems and we acted according to them. They were like farmers planting seeds of negativity and doubt in our minds. Those negative affirmations continually whirl around in our mind and form a foundation for our self-confidence and self esteem.
Minds Are Like Gardens
When you plant a pea seed, you not only get a bean but multiples of peas. It is a law of nature, that what you plant multiplies in gestation. It is the same thing with thoughts. When you plant, or have planted negative thoughts into your sub-conscious mind, you will have many, many more negative thoughts and thus actions.
So, it stands to reason that if we want a different outcome or crop, we must change what is being planted there. We need to plant only positive beliefs and encouraging words and phrases. We need to read good books, watch good movies and generally switch from a negative standpoint of “I can’t do that” to a positive one of “Of course I can do that and anything else if I am willing to work and not give up.”
Make a choice today to plant positive thoughts and actions with affirmations. Just as you choose to put good food in your body, put good thoughts in your mind.
In psychology, an affirmation is a positive thought or statement declaring (or affirming) that a desired goal has been reached or is within reach. When using affirmations, think of them as planting positive flowers or seeds. You can expect to see more as they grow and develop and spread to other areas of your life.
